Mumbai: A man has been arrested for sexually assaulting his six-year-old niece in Ulhasnagar recently. The Hill Line police said that the victim was assaulted for more than two months. The accused has been identified as Ravi Jhanjavadiya.
According to the police, the victim’s mother used to run a vegetable stall in the vicinity. While her mother was busy at work, the child used to live with her aunt.
“One day, the aunt had gone out for some work. Taking advantage of this, the accused sexually assaulted the child. He kept assaulting her for two months. However, recently the girl narrated her ordeal to her mother who then approached the police,” said a police official.
A case has been registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and Protection of Children from sexual offence Act, 2012. Jhanjavadiya is in police custody.
