Mumbai: Thane police has arrested a 21-year-old man for allegedly killing an 8-year-old boy by strangulating him after the deceased found out about the alleged affair between the accused and his mother.
The police said the arrested accused is identified as Jitendra Madheshia, 21. The deceased's mother in her 30s and used to run a lunch home in Kharivali village of Bhiwandi. Jitendra was having an affair with the woman and frequently visited the lunch home. "In May 2021, the 8-year-old boy noticed some inappropriate behavior between the two and stopped them. The minor further informed his father, who then closed the lunch home," said a police officer from Bhoiwada police station.
The police said on Wednesday afternoon the minor went missing and a search to trace him started. "On Thursday morning after they smelled a foul smell from a vacant flat on the fourth floor of the deceased's building. The minor was found dead. The Bhoiwada police registered a murder case and started the investigation," said a police officer.
After interrogating the neighbor, auto-rickshaw driver and local informants the police received details regarding Jitendra. He was called for questioning and confessed to the crime stating the minor was a hurdle in their affair. "He took the minor to the fourth floor of their building, where all the flats are vacant with broken doors. Also, his parents were out for some work. He strangled the minor with his hand and killed him. After he confessed to the crime we also checked his location for two days and found him near the incident," added the police officer.
Samadhan Chavan, police inspector, Bhoiwada police station confirmed about the arrest and said, "The accused was produced in court on Friday and remanded in police custody till July 21,".
