Thane: 14-year-old boy drowns in river, panicked friends flee from spot

On Saturday afternoon, a 14-year-old boy was drowned in Bhatsa river near Vashind village, Thane. According to Hindustan Times, the incident took place when the boy was swimming with his classmates after school. The Titwala police recovered the boy’s body on Sunday after his parents lodged a complaint at the police station. The police have said that the boy entered the river at around 12 pm with his friends for swimming. But when he drowned, his classmates panicked and fled from the spot.

As the boy did not return home, his parents filed a police complaint and cops started searching for him. During the search, the cops came across a body at the river which matched the description of the missing boy. The cops then called the boy’s parents to identify. The family identified the dead body. The cops have registered a case of accidental death and are currently investigating the matter.
