Mumbai: Three days after veteran Bollywood actor Nana Patekar was given a clean chit by the Mumbai Police in the sexual harassment case lodged by Tanushree Dutta, the actress has released a press statement asking PM Modi, how does Mumbai Police term her complaint as false and malicious despite giving proof.

Moreover, she has also openly slammed the police to have worked hand-in-glove with the accused to let him slip away with no charges whatsoever.

In a statement, Dutta said, “Modiji..what happened to a corruption-free India? A daughter of the country gets harassed by a serial offender, attacked by a mob in public, denied justice over and over again and her name is maligned, she is threatened, pressurised, her career is destroyed and literally driven out of the country to live a life of anonymity and your police force say her complaint is false and malicious!!! Please answer me Modiji.”

Moreover, she also openly slammed the police. “The Mumbai Police lied in its report to the court that my complaint with CINTAA did not have sexual harassment in it. They were given the copy of my handwritten 2008 complaint to CINTAA that clearly mentioned sexual harassment corroborating my 2018 FIR. In 2008, police had refused to even take an FIR, twisted and manipulated the complaint to protect the accused,” said Dutta.

She also accused the police of producing bogus witnesses to corroborate with the accused and mislead the investigation. However, when contacted Shailesh Pasalwad, a senior inspector of Oshiwara police station, he rebuffed all these allegations and refused to comment.

Dutta also accused the police of giving fake assurances and secretly working with the accused to slip away with no charges whatsoever.

She said, “Police were hand-in-glove with the accused right from day one, when they asked us to produce all evidence, saying we have a very strong case and that they will be making arrests soon but instead they gave us hope and stabbed us in the back by calling my complaint malicious and false. Despite Janice Sequeira and Shyni Shetty having given witness testimony in my favour, police did nothing. What more proof does one need to prove harassment??”
