Mumbai : Nine-month old girl from Byculla succumbed to swine flu virus on Thursday, taking the death toll to 28 in the city. The cause of her death has been identified as Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) in a case of H1N1 positive pneumonia. Meanwhile, the city reported 11 new swine flu cases on Friday, taking the total count to swine flu cases to 195 in the city in the month of July alone.
The deceased was admitted to Nair Hospital last Saturday with symptoms of high fever and breathlessness following which she was started with Tamiflu dosage the next day. The civic officials informed that the child had contracted pneumonia which worsened her health condition. The child succumbed to the disease on Thursday after suffering from ARDS.
