Aurangabad : Suspected explosive stuff in the form of powder was seized at the Chikalthana airport on Tuesday night, which police have referred to the forensic laboratory for analysis and are waiting for the laboratory report.

Deputy commissioner of police (DCP, zone II), Arvind Chavria, said that the powder was being sent to Gurgaon in a pocket through a courier service. It came to the notice of security personnel during the scanner checking of the parcels, which were to be loaded in a New Delhi-bound flight at 8.30 pm. Three persons, who sent it to Delhi, have been summoned to the police station and were grilled about the stuff.

According to them, they run a powder metal coating manufacturing industry having one unit in Aurangabad and the other in Gurgaon. This parcel was sent to Gurgaon from here and have claimed that was neither explosive nor would have caused hazard to anybody.

The chief of the MIDC Cidco police station, PI Nirmala Pardeshi, said that the powder cannot be described in either way as hazardous or harmless, but police suspect that it may have caused danger to the people on board had it been allowed to load in the plane.
Therefore, police have seized the powder, 250 grams in weight, and have referred it to the forensic laboratory for examination on Wednesday.
The report is likely to be received in a day or two. The case against them will be registered only after the forensic laboratory report is received. Three-four persons related to this matter are under police watch.

Forensic lab report awaited
