Mumbai : The Maharashtra police is reportedly facing a shortage of Inspector General (IG) rank officials and the home department has decided to call back officials on deputation in various agencies over the coming months.
IG-level officials on deputation with the external affairs ministry will also be called back to the state police force.
For instance, VK Chaube — a special IG and deputed at The Hague for the Ministry of External Affairs — will be back in the next two three months.
Chiranjeevi Prasad — a Deputy Inspector General (DIG) with the Central Reserve Police Protection Force and posted in Patna, Bihar — will also be called back to the state.
RK Padnabhan, special IG and posted as Executive Director, Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi), will also be called back.
“There is a shortage of senior officials in the Maharashtra Police; there are very few officers of IG rank working with the force. So we decided to call back all the officials over the next few months,” said KP Bakshi, additional chief secretary (home).
