Mumbai : The State government released Rs 402 crore for the kharip crop damage relief on Thursday.
A government resolution has been promulgated to release Rs 402 crore as grant for farmers who had lost crops in Kharip season of 2014. The money would directly be transferred to the farmers’ bank accounts, the GR said.
“Some of the affected farmers could not get financial relief due to technical reasons, including non-availability of bank accounts. Now, the bank accounts of farmers are in place and hence funds have been released,” an official said.
Authorities have been asked to disburse the relief within a stipulated period through special drives, the official added.
Eighty percent of farmers who had lost their Kharip corps last years had been given the relief last year, the official said.
