Mumbai : The State government won’t let down the fishermen and would support them on the issue of warehouses at Sasoon Dock, revenue minister Eknath Khadse announced in the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday during discussion on a calling attention motion.

The motion moved by local BJP MLA Raj Purohit amongst others sought State government’s intervention over the notices given by the MbPT to the warehouse operators at the Sasoon Dock.

The notice is an outcome of dispute between MbPT and director of fisheries who had let the warehouses to the state fisheries development corporation who in turn had given them to the fish workers on rent. The dispute over the payment of rent is pending in the court, said the minister.

The government would certainly intervene in the matter and try to organise a meeting between all the stakeholders to amicably resolve the issue, Khadse assured the house.
