Solapur: The time for filing of nominations is also the time for the candidates to reveal the details of their assets. The three candidates from Solapur are Prakash Ambedkar, Sushilkumar Shinde and Jai Siddheshwar Shivacharya.
The triangular fight in Solapur is among the Bharatiya Janata Party-Shiv Sena alliance, Congress-Nationalist Congress Party combine and the Bahujan Vanchit Agadhi. Ambedkar and his wife Anjali have combined assets of over Rs3 crore. Compared to their declared income in 2014, there has been a rise of Rs7 lakh in 2018-19.
Sushilkumar Shinde has declared to have a debt of Rs37 lakh, while his wife has a debt of Rs10 lakh. Compared to their declared income in 2014, there has been rise of Rs22 lakh in 2018-19. Shivacharya has moveable assets worth Rs6 lakh, while his immovable assets are valued at Rs2 crore.
All the three candidates had brought a huge number of workers in a show of strength. Ambedkar and Shivacharya both undertook padyatras with hoards of followers to basically prove their mettle. Shinde, meanwhile held a gathering of workers of their alliance parties.
Ambedkar has a strong social media presence, unlike the other two who have sworn to have no social media account. Ambedkar doesn’t own any vehicle, but, Shivacharya owns an Ambassador and Shinde owns two tractors, one Fortuner and one tempo.
