Mumbai: This is clearly an election that sitting Member of Parliament from Shiv Sena and from the Mumbai South Central Lok Sabha constituency, Rahul Shevale, wants to win, as is evident from his ‘pilgrimage’ to key religious spots and memorials in his stronghold.
Starting at 10 am on Monday, Shevale did the rounds of Siddhivinayak temple at Prabhadevi, Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar memorial at Chaityabhumi, Sena founder Balasaheb Thackeray’s memorial at Shivaji Park, the memorial of the late Vinayak Damodar Savarkar and wrapped it up by offering a chaadar at Mahim durgah before proceeding to file his nomination papers at Old Customs House. He was accompanied by his family and followers on this yatra.
“It is going to be easier for me to get re-elected. In 2014, I was just a corporator who was elevated to contest the parliamentary polls. There was a massive anti-incumbency wave, hence it was easy to win. This time, on the basis of work I have done for my constituents, I am confident they will vote for me again,” he said, exuding confidence.
