Gangster Abu Salem says yes to the marriage proposal by a 25-year-old Mumbra girl, who claimed that she’ll end her life if he declined the offer
Mumbai : Almost two weeks after a 25-year-old Mumbra girl filed an application before the TADA court for permission to tie the knot with jailed gangster Abu Salem, Salem has finally filed a reply, and it is in the affirmative.
The girl, In her six-page application, filed on June 15, claimed that rumours about her marriage to Abu Salem have been a cause of great distress and disgrace. She claims they have proven to be defamatory in nature and have caused anguish for her and her family.
Insisting that her decision to marry the incarcerated gangster was out of compulsion, she blamed the police for undue victimisation by circulating the “morphed” photographs of her with the gangster. The present situation, she claimed, had rendered her ineligible for marriage as her husband would always view her with suspicion and link her to Salem
“I feel like committing suicide as no other alternative is left for me due to such cheap publicity. As I have been defamed without any rhyme or reason, I would like to now take a bold step and get married to the said person Abu Salem,” reads her application.
In reply to the said application, the forty-year-old gangster, who in addition to facing a trial in the 93 blasts, has also been convicted recently for the Pradeep Jain murder case, has accepted her proposal. In the two-page reply, Salem said, “I apologise from the bottom of my heart to the applicant for whatever suffering she had to undergo because of my name being tagged with her. I have no such further intention to cause any disrespect and harm to the applicant without any rhyme and reason and she being at no fault.”
Looking to undo the trouble he had caused her, Salem also mentioned, “I undertake to care for her in all the respects once she gets married to me and that she will not be further defamed as officially she will be my wife.”
Expressing his regret over the trouble this episode had caused the Mumbra resident, he said “I intend to compensate the applicant by accepting her proposal and giving her my name officially as she is defamed and hurt hence I too intend to go for the said marriage before the Registrar of marriages, with her at the earliest.”
“I am doing no favour to her by accepting her proposal but with great respect and gratitude I do not want that she is further defamed because of me and my name.”
After Salem’s affirmation to the request of the girl for marriage, the court is now waiting for the prosecution to file reply to the application to pass an order on it.
