Thane: The Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) has demolished a 7-storey building which was constructed illegally on the land earmarked for the Development Plan (DP) in Nandivli, Dombivli on Wednesday. A civic official said that the developer and land owner of the Balaji Complex, Bunty Balaram Mahatre, had built the 7-storey building without permission.

The demolition was carried out after a directive from the KDMC Commissioner Govind Bodke to the divisional officer and Deputy Commissioner Sunil Joshi that strict action should be taken against the illegal construction.  Prashant Thakur, PRO, KDMC, said, “We served notice to the residents to evacuate the building eight days back. This building was constructed on road that was sanctioned for the DP. We had served notice to developers and residents about it.” A complaint was filed by Vidya Mahatre against the illegal construction by Bunty Mahatre, following which KDMC served Mahatre three notices. Commissioner Govind Bodke, Deputy Commissioner Sunil Joshi, Assistant Commissioner of the corporation Maruti Rathod were also present on the spot during the demolition.
