BVA secures lion’s share in votes as compared to other political parties

Palghar : The Bahujan Vikas Aghadi (BVA) has sky rocketed its popularity by grabbing 93 per cent of seats (106) of the 115 contested recently in the Vasai Virar Municipal Corporation (VVMC).

The party has secured around 2.06 lakh votes 1.28 lakh votes more that the votes secured by runners-up Shiv Sena – BJP alliance. The vote share of saffron combine has dropped considerably if last year’s assembly election is taken into consideration when their vote tally was much more than the last week’s corporation election.

Political analysts in Vasai observe that apart from the development it was the social engineering followed and implemented by Vasai MLA and BVA party president Hitendra Thakur was one of the main reasons for BVA’s sweeping success. The distribution of tickets from the BVA also played a very important role as this helped them garner more brownie points.

Rather than favouring one with a religious backdrop tickets were given to those who, the locals felt, was the real candidate. If the winners list is to be screened then one would find candidates from all the religions, castes and creeds winning with a thumping majority.

The Congress and NCP alliance could only manage approximately 14,860 and 1,563 votes respectively.

None Of The Above (NOTA) option was also very marginal with 4804 votes as maximum people preferred to vote for their favorite candidates.
