Mumbai : Schemes worth Rs 238.74 crore were approved at the planning committee meeting of the Mumbai suburban district on Tuesday. Guardian minister Vinod Tawde said that the planning committee would henceforth meet quarterly to review the progress of the work sanctioned.

The schemes that were approved include Rs 75-crore and Rs 6-crore worth of development schemes for scheduled castes and tribes respectively, the minister said while briefing reporters after the meeting at Chetna College in Bandra.

Tawde also said that the committee has decided to meet every three months henceforth. He told the reporters that the committee has also invited memorandums from corporators and MLAs from the suburbs regarding monsoon-related problems in their respective areas, adding that they have been asked to submit their suggestions towards tackling these problems within 15 days, so that implementing the same could be facilitated.

“A meeting of all the MLAs from the suburbs would be organised every 6 months and we should also try to have a meeting under the CM’s leadership,” Tawde said.
