Mumbai : The results of the tests on samples of ‘visarjan sharbat’ sent to the Kalina Forensic Science Laboratory on Monday is expected in the next 48 hours.
On Sunday, 39 devotees were rushed to BMC’s Trauma Care Centre with vomiting and stomach ache on consumption of the sharbat. Meanwhile, 20 devotees were discharged from the hospital on Wednesday. Dr Shashikant Wadekar, medical superintendent at the hospital, said: “All the devotees were discharged after they were stable. However, one has been readmitted as he was feeling uneasy but his condition is also stable.”
“We are expecting the results in 48 hours. We don’t know whether the water was contaminated or the expiry date of the juice had lapsed. Everything will become clear from the sample results,” an officer said.
