Mumbai: After winning the IPL season 12, Mumbai Indians had undertaken a winning rally, which was taken from Antilia to Trident Hotel. After receiving a query filed under the Right to Information by Anil Galgali, Mumbai Police finally sent a bill of Rs3.55 lakh to Reliance concern Indiawin Sports and recovered the amount for the security provided during the rally.
This has been revealed through a reply sent by Mumbai police to Anil Galgali, who had filed a query under the Right to Information Act.
Galgali in his query on May 16, filed to the Mumbai Police and the Traffic Police sought information about the details of security provided for the celebratory procession of Mumbai Indians, who had won the IPL. The procession began from Antilia and culminated at the Trident Hotel and the charges recovered for security.
Mumbai Police in its reply informed Galgali that two police inspectors, one assistant police inspector, 2 police sub-inspectors and 100 constables were deployed for one shift, as security during the procession.
After Mumbai police received the query, a wireless message was relayed by the API Control, at Naigaum on May 31 and a bill was sent to the Ambanis, along with M/s Indiawin Sports. The bill of Rs3.55 lakh was generated and paid by the company on June 4.
Galgali said since the entire route fell under the silent zone, no procession could have been permitted here. Moreover, had he not filed an RTI query, the Mumbai police would probably not have even generated the bill and recovered the charges for the security cover.
The Mumbai police continues to maintain an discreet silence on the issue of permissions sought by the organisers.
“The police have not provided any reply pertaining to whether permissions were sought by the organisers and the departments that gave the sanction,” said Galgali.
