Retired Beed cop’s arrest stayed

Mumbai: The Supreme Court on Thursday granted an interim stay on the arrest of Bhaurao @ Bhausaheb Pawar, a retired in-charge of Moharil police station in Beed city and issued notice to the Maharashtra government, seeking a reply in six weeks.

The retired cop had approached the Supreme Court after the Aurangabad Bench of the Bombay HC rejected his anticipatory bail, as the police wanted his custodial interrogation to recover the evidences he had removed from the envelop in his custody.

He submitted the case was filed against him after he had retired in Feb 2016. A sum of Rs10,000 in the old Rs1,000 currency notes seized by police had vanished while in his custody.
