Mumbai: The state government has established two regulatory authorities to control admissions and fees in unaided private professional colleges. The government order in this regard was released on Wednesday.
The decision to set up these authorities was taken after it was observed that there were too many complaints against private institutions running recognised professional courses. The authorities are expected to monitor the recognised professional courses run by the private unaided educational institutions, so that profiteering can be prevented, senior officials in Mantralaya have said.
The setting up of the authorities is also expected to clear the way for conducting common entrance tests for all such institutions across the state to bring them under the unified admission process. — FPJ
