Mumbai : Yusuf Ali Khan, a 64-year-old vada pav seller from Bhiwandi has been arrested for alleged rape of an eight-year-old girl by Narpoli police on Saturday. The accused tried to build a sexual relationship with the victim who helped him in his everyday work in lieu of a vada pav.
The incident came to light on Saturday when the victim was asked by her mother after she stopped visiting the accused. The accused Yusuf Ali Khan inquired about the victim’s whereabouts from her 12-year old friend. The victim’s friends then in turn informed the victim’s mother about it. When confronted by her mother, the victim narrated her ordeal to her mother who then registered a complaint.
The senior Police Inspector (PI) of Narpoli police station, Anil Ankade said, “The victim in her complaint stated that the accused took her to his residence in Ajmer Nagar and tried to establish a sexual relationship with the her on a couple of occasions. We have arrested the accused from his house and a case has been registered.”
The medical test of the victim is awaited but a case has been registered under section 377 of Indian Penal Court (IPC) and section 4 of Protection of Child against Sexual Offences (POSCO). The police have been given the custody of the accused until October 31. While a case has been registered with the Wadala TT police station no arrests have been made so far.
