Mumbai: The Social Services branch of the Mumbai police on Wednesday raided the premises of Mumbai’s top Matka bookie in Mulund. The business was being run by Atul Gosar. Along with Atul, police also caught 16 of his associates. These 16 accomplices have small-scale Matka business in various areas of the city. The police seized over Rs 1.33 lakh from the office, 36 mobile phones valued at approximately Rs 72,000 and various other items like calculators, pens, charts and Matka bet chits. The Matka kingpins were accepting bets from operators from Colaba, Vasai, Virar, Bhiwandi etc. The raid took place at flat number 1803, Vishnu Tower, Keshavpada, Mulund, west. They were booked under Sections 465, 467, 468, 471, 420 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), Section 4(A) and 5 of the Gambling Act and Section 25(K) of the Telegraph Act. The Social Services Branch is investigating the case further.
