Mumbai : The Social Service Branch of Mumbai police conducted a raid at a gambling den and handed over as many as 126 people to NM Joshi Marg police station on Tuesday night. Acting on a tip off the SSB officials led by ACP Rupwate carried out 12-hour-long raid on Tuesday evening and detained 126 people including six managers of the club, three cashiers, 36 jockeys and 81 players from the gambling den. All of them were later handed over to NM Joshi police station. The officials have also seized Rs 18 lakh cash and 2,223 coins amounting to Rs 12.03 lakh. “A case was registered under section 4 (a), 5 of the Gambling Act and 131 (a) of the Maharashtra police Act was registered by the NM Joshi Marg police station,” said DCP, Enforcement, Dr Pravin Kumar Patil. It is to be noted that this whole night operation was conducted just two months after Mumbai crime branch arrested 71 people from the same place during nine-hour-long raid on the gambling den naming Janta Social Club.
