Pune: A young woman was sexually assaulted and her male friend was beaten by two accused in Pune early on Sunday morning. The shocking incident occurred in Baner. The young lady is a social activist and teacher.
After a party on Saturday night, the survivor was going to her friend’s house on a two-wheeler. The two accused followed them, stopped the two-wheeler, sexually assaulted her and beat her and her male companion. The incident took place at the gate of a society.
The entire episode was captured on the CCTV camera of the building, said a senior police official. The two accused have been identified as Avinash Dhankude (21) and Shekhar Kalamkar (22) and arrested. Both have been sent to judicial custody, he added.
