Mumbai: The Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) party workers, All India Democratic Association, Democratic Youth Federation of India and Students Federation of India staged a protest outside the college and Nari Hospital building premises demanding stringent action against the alleged culprits. Why it takes so long to arrest the trio doctors, and why no action so far taken on them. We are here to seek justice which is our right and that is why we have staged a protest. It is an utterly shame on our system despite of our strong constitutions such instances do occur,” said Rekha Tai Thakur, VBA spokesperson.

She futher said, “The Nair hospital administration should be held responsible for her suicide, and we demand strict action against the dean too.” Meanwhile, a social media campaign called #JusticeForPayal has also gained momentum in which prominent personalities from all over India have demanded justice for the deceased medico. Dalit leader Jignesh Mevani and student leader Kanhaiya Kumar have also expressed anger over the incident. A batch mate of Dr Tadvi took to twitter seeking justice for her. Dr Payal was a strong and positive natured person and for such a person to be forced to take this extreme step in her life… it is just hard to imagine the amount of negativity and mental harrasment she faced for the past one year,” Dr Simin Khan tweeted. The most unexpected part being, even after reaching out for help with higher officials of the college/hospital by herself, and her family, no respite was granted,” read the letter she had tweeted. Also taking cognisance of the issue, the Maharashtra State Women’s Commission has asked the hospital administration to conduct a fair inquiry and submit a report within 8 days.
