Mumbai : Even three weeks after the announcement of a high level probe into the alleged irregularities in allotment of state-owned land in Mumbai to AJL, the proprietors of now defunct National Herald, there has been no development on the front, a senior bureaucrat in the State Government told FPJ here on Thursday.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had last month announced that the probe would be initiated immediately by a one member high level committee.

Fadnavis had, on December 25 last year, announced that the probe will be conducted by Additional Chief Secretary Transport and Ports, Gautam Chaterrjee. However, when contacted, the senior bureaucrat pleaded complete ignorance.

Chatterjee, who has held several key posts in the government including the Housing department, said that so far he has not received any note from the government.

“Modalities and guidelines for the probe will have to be decided,” he said, adding that, any bureaucrat who shall conduct the probe will have to look into the nature of the land allotment, the conditions on which the land was allotted and whether any of those conditions were violated or not.
