Mumbai: A priest from Sawantwadi was recently assaulted and abducted by a group of 30-40 men, led by one Duarnanath Balal. The accused were trying acquire a property in Sawantwadi, which the complainant priest is taking care of. The complainant, Father Liju Joseph, was allegedly assaulted with iron rods by the accused and abducted him. They also threatened him for life if he does not give up the property and leave the premise. Moreover, when the priest approached police to report the matter, he was booked instead for rioting.
