Mumbai: The Mumbai Congress on Friday took to the streets outside the HQ of Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) protesting against the potholes in the city. The protest was headed by party head Sanjay Nirupam carrying a dhol on the very occasion of Ashadi Ekadashi.
Potholes menace has instigated all political parties to come out on the streets against the shoddy work. The party members are seen naming the potholes on the name of contractors involved in this scam and blaming the MCGM-led Sena-BJP.
The Congress, few days back, had launched its pothole-tracking service on digital media which is called ‘Bol Mere Pothole’. The party men alleged that “The civic administration spends more than Rs 3,000 crore on potholes every year and at the end what we get is these bumpy rides leading to deaths and accidents.”
“From the past many years, the ruling Shiv Sena- BJP parties are the real culprits who are to be blamed for the sad state of Mumbai city. One cannot say that the potholes are on the road, rather the roads in potholes,” said Sanjay Nirupam.
The MCGM has been playing with the innocent lives of people by misusing tax payer’s money. The contractors and the civic officials involved in this pothole scam should be penalized.
