Police Patils and home guards get pay hike

Mumbai: Just before the state government gets into poll mode, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has announced a hike in the daily wages of Police Patil and Home Guards. All the Police Patils will get Rs 6500 as ‘duty allowance’ and Home Guards will get Rs 570 daily wages. This decision was taken by the Cabinet sub-committee. Both categories of police will also get the benefit of health insurance and Atal Pension Yojna.

Fadnavis addressed the issues of Police Patils and Home Guards, after they had made a few demands. He called for an urgent meeting on Friday and announced the pay hike.  Police Patils are integral to the rural police force and it is important for the state to take cognisance of their demands, so that they remain motivated. The Police Patils interact closely with the public.

The Police Patils have been getting Rs 3000 honorarium, with the new decision, they will now get Rs 6500. From this, Rs 500 will be deducted for Police Patil Welfare Fund.  The state also announced Rs 5 lakh to those Police Patils who died in combat with the Naxals.  The amount for the Governor’s medal has also been increased from Rs 5000 to Rs 25,000.

Fadnavis said, it is important to strengthen the Home Guard force and has approved their demands. Earlier the Home Guards used to get Rs 300 now it has been increased to Rs 570 and their age limit has been increased to 58 years. They will be given work for minimum 180 days in a year.   The CM also asked the Mumbai police to give them adequate training. He also instructed for the removal of government resolution dated, July 13, 2010 regarding the benefits to be extended to the Home Guards.
