Navi Mumbai : Former Union agriculture minister and Nationalist Congress Party chief Shrad Pawar on Wednesday slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for ignoring his duties and concentrating on campaigning in Maharashtra.
“While in the past 15 days Pakistan has violated ceasefire along the Line of Control as well as the international border in Jammu and Kashmir, our PM is hopping in different constituencies,” adding, “till today, we have no separate Defence Minister as Arun Jaitly is managing the show as an additional responsibility.”
The NCP chief was addressing a public meeting at Anchorwala Education Society ground in sector 14, Vashi. A large number of women and youth attended the meeting. However, Pawar along with former minister and NCP candidate for Belapur assembly seat Ganesh Naik reached the venue little after 7 p.m. though it was scheduled at 6 p.m.
Tearing into PM’s ‘Achhe Din Ayenge’, NCP chief said, “Our farmers are not getting proper prices for their sugarcane and onion and they are not happy with the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre. It was noticed in recently held Uttar Pradesh by-elections where the BJP faced humiliating defeat at the hands of non-BJP parties. “Same thing will happen in Maharashtra when results will be declared on October 19,” Pawar claimed.
