Mumbai : Mumbai’s pleasant break from the heat and humidity continued for a second consecutive day on Thursday, as the temperatures remained low and the brief showers continued in parts of the city.
The maximum temperature in Colaba on Friday was 32.2 degree Celsius while the minimum was 24.5 degree Celsius. In Santacruz, the maximum temperature was recorded at 33.5 degree Celsius and the minimum temperature was 24.8 degree Celsius.’
“It was very difficult to manage with the continuous heat and humidity, which makes on sweat continuously. It constantly affected my concentration on studies. But mercifully, the weather has got so much better in the past two days. On Friday, it drizzled unexpectedly in Fort around 5pm. Although the weather was quite pleasant since morning the slight shower brought with it sudden coolness in the climate making it more enjoyable,” said Gayatri Lele, a law student in her final year who studies at a college in South Bombay.
“The low pressure area created 900 metres above the sea level on the West Coast continues and as a result so will the cloudy weather and the brief showers in the coastal areas. There are very few chances of this low pressure intensifying and moving closer on the surface of the sea. Had it been on the surface of the sea and intensified, it could have culminated in a cyclone,” said K S Hosalikar, Deputy Director General of the Meteorological Department, Mumbai.
