Kalyan: A 23-year-old housewife from Bhiwandi has alleged that her husband has given triple talaq over WhatsApp some two months back. The victim, identified as Aarzo Shaikh (23), who is physically disabled, had married Nadeem Shaikh in May 2014, who is a resident at Dewanshah area in Bhiwandi. Aarzo and Shaikh, a technical engineer by profession who works in Kalyan’s private firm, have a four-year-old son. “After getting married to him, my husband started harassing me and demanded to arrange some money to buy a flat worth of Rs 10 lakh so that my husband could set up his house. But since I come from poor background, my family are not in a capacity to help me out financially.
My husband besides harassing me, started to torture me on a daily basis.” Aarzo got triple talaq some two months back via WhatsApp. She sincerely pleaded with her husband to retain her and her son as her family could do nothing financially. Her husband Nadeem and his family members disowned her from his house, following which she had to stay at her maternal home in Bhiwandi.
Aarzo has been waiting for her husband to call her back but to till date he even refuses to answer her phone. Feeling dejected and helpless, Aarzo finally on Monday, knocked on the police door only to seek justice. Kalyan Karpe, Senior Police Inspector of Bhoiwada police station said, “She approached Bhoiwada police stations in Bhiwandi with her complaint. We have sent her to woman councilling only after receiving a report from there we will be able to book a case against her husband.”
