Mumbai: Parsi-Zoroastrians offered prayers at the heritage-listed Bhikha Behram well, Churchgate, on Tuesday morning to commemorate 'Ava Roj' or 'water day'.
The Jashan, or prayers, had 15 young mobeds or priests praying to mark the beginning of the 15th year of the Humbandagi, or communal prayers, on Ava Roj. Prayers are offered on this day for health and peace.

This was the 169th Humbandagi on Ava Roj, said community members. Ava Roj is celebrated on one day every month.
The Humbandagi was followed by a talk by Ervad Meher Mody on 'Empowering Mobeds on the topic "Behdins & Mobeds - Challenges facing the next generation".
