Mumbai : The train services during evening peak hours went for a toss on Monday after a Panvel-bound local was stuck between Masjid Bunder and Sandhurst Road halting the harbour line traffic for an hour.

Thousands of commuters heading home were stuck at the railway stations as there were no trains available on the harbour line. A Panvel-bound train, after departing from CST at 7:30 pm, got stuck between Masjid Bunder and Sandhurst Road after an iron strip attached to the rake near the footboard broke off after getting rubbed against the platform. The iron strip got entangled with second motor coach of the train due to which it was stuck on the tracks for 40 minutes until it was removed at 8:10 pm.

There were no trains available until the Panvel-bound train was fixed as harbour being of two lines there were no diversions possible.

PRO of CR, AK Singh said, “There were no injuries reported to the passengers. The same train was continued further after iron strip was removed from the wheels of the train.” Due to the incident eight services had to be cancelled to maintain punctuality of the trains. Despite the cancellations trains were running 45 minutes behind schedule.
