A 28-year-old man was sentenced to death for attacking a couple with acid four years ago. The convict, Guddu Krish Yadav, attacked his coworker Rajkumar Balram Ravidas and his wife in 2015 when both of them were asleep. Four years ago, Guddu and Rajkumar used to work in a same chemical company.
In November 2015, Guddu stole Rajkumar’s mobile phone. Rajkumar complained to employer about the same and the latter reprimanded Guddu over the issue and asked him to return the phone. After the incident, Guddu was angered and wanted to take revenge.
On the night of November 6, 2015 at about 2:30 am, Guddu went to company’s quarters in Boisar where Rajkumar used to live with his wife. He went there with a bucket containing 10-litre acid concentrated sulphuric acid and pour it on the couple while they were asleep.
The other coworkers who were present in the company quarters heard the couple’s scream and rushed them to the nearby hospital. However, both the couple eventually died. Guddu fled to Patna, Bihar after the incident but he was later caught by the police. Since then, he is lodged in Thane Central Jail. Around 12 witnesses and medical reports acted as evidences during the trial, including statements of eye-witnesses. Guddu was sentenced to death by Palghar sessions court on Thursday.
