A 17-year-old, Std XII Arts girl student residing in the government-run ashram shall (school cum hostel) allegedly killed herself by hanging in an empty room in the school at Sakhare, Vikramgadh, on Wednesday. A suicide note has been found which has been seized by the police and it was sent for forensic analysis.
The victim in the note mentioned that she was in love with a 17-year-old boy who lived in the vicinity of the hostel and presumed that she was pregnant as she had missed her periods since the past month and felt depressed. We have sent the note for forensic analysis and sent the body for post-mortem analysis and its report is awaited said Gite.
"We have arrested the minor under Section 376(rape), 306(abetment to suicide) of the Indian Penal Code and also under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act(POCSO), 2012 and has been remanded to the Children's Remand Home, Bhiwandi on Thursday by the Juvenile Court Bhiwandi and are investigating further," he said.
The victim had allegedly committed the act in an old, abandoned room near the terrace, located above her dormitory. The teachers searched for her as she was missing from her classes and they found the body. They later informed the police.
