Bhayandar : With 2,295 immersions recorded in Mira Bhayandar region on Monday, the total number of Ganesh idols which graced the twin-city crossed the 17,000 mark. Last year, the figure had stood at 16,647 which included 642 idols that had been immersed in artifi-cial ponds. Ironically, the Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation had dropped the idea of eco-friendly immer-sions this year. Devotees bid farewell to 1809 household and 386 Sarvajanik Ganesh idols at 22 immersion spots. Civic chief Subash Laakhe and Mayor Catlyn Pereira supervised the arrangements.
Scribes felicitate Ganesh Mandals: Continuing its tradition, the Mira Bhayandar Mahanagarpalika Vartahar Sangh, organised the annual ‘Ganesh Darshan’ compe-tition, the prizes of which were distributed in a ceremony held at Nagar Bhawan Hall in Bhayandar.
