Mumbai : On the pretext of asking for water, two unknown men robbed Rs 8 lakhs from a flat in Charkop in Kandivali (W).
According to the Charkop police, the accused who were in their mid 20s and posed themselves as delivery boys, have not been identified. The incident took place on Sunday at 7:30 a.m.
The victim, a complainant in this case identified as Hetal Jethwa (35) is a housewife.
According to Senior Police Inspector, Ramchandra Gaikwad, Charkop police station, “ Two unidentified men rang the bell at the Jethwa residence. The victim Hetal Jethwa opened the door. They asked her for drinking water. When the victim went to the kitchen to get a glass of water, the accused cornered the victim and made her sniff a poisonous substance that they had sprayed onto the handkerchief. The victim lost her consciousness. While she was lying unconscious on the floor, the accused took away the cupboard keys and robbed cash and jewellery worth Rs 8 lakh.”
While the victim laid unconscious, the two unidentified robbers opened a wooden cupboard and started searching for the locker keys. They threw around clothes and documents kept in the cupboard while they searched for the keys.
When the complainant regained her consciousness, she recalled the incident and approached the Charkop police.
“A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered. We have booked the two accused under Section 394 (Voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery ), Section 328 (Causing hurt by means of poison, etc., with intent to commit an offence), Section 452 (House-trespass after preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful restraint) and Section 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code,”said Gaikwad.
