Mumbai: For the first time, students who have failed in one subject in the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) Class 10 or Indian School Certificate (ISC) Class 12 examinations will get a chance to reappear and clear the academic year.  Students who have failed in one subject can now register online through their schools from June 24 to 30. The compartmental examinations will be held on July 15, 16 and 17. The results will be declared on August 5.

Marksheets of students will indicate if they are ‘eligible for compartmental examinations’. Gerry Arathoon, Chief Executive and Secretary of the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), said, “We want to give students a chance to clear the examinations instead of wasting an entire academic year. Students who have failed in one subject can clear the examinations in July and apply for admissions for further studies.”

Students will have to clear the English language paper as a mandatory subject in order to appear for these compartmental examinations. Arathoon added, “ICSE students will have to clear three more subjects in addition to English to appear for compartmental exams. While, ISC students will have to clear two subjects along with English to appear for the reexamination.”
