Mumbai : In just less than two days, the city has once again reported another cadaver donation that gave a new lease of life to two people. The donor was a 66-year-old man who donated both his kidneys after he was declared brain-dead at P D Hinduja hospital. With this, the toll of cadaver donations this year has gone up to 40, which is just one less than the previous year’s figure.

The deceased breathed his last owing to subarachnoid hemorrhage and was later declared brain-dead. Following this, his family was approached for organ donation and, after understanding the procedures, they gave their consent for both the kidneys. Therefore, one of the kidneys went to a female recipient at P D Hinduja hospital and the other went to a female recipient at INHS Ashwini hospital.
