Bhayandar : Residents living on the western side of Bhayandar have a reason to rejoice as their endless wait for Piped Natural Gas (PNG) has finally come to an end. Thanks to the continuous follow-up by the local NCP leadership led by former mayor Catlyn Pereira, the service provider Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) started supply of piped cooking gas into the kitchens of people living in various building on the 150 road area. The gas supply network which was inaugurated in the presence of corporators Suresh Khandelwal and Dhruvkishore Patil, will be extended to other nearby regions in coming days. Though the PNG project has been launched in the twin-city few years back, the colossal delay in getting permissions from authorities mainly the railway department for the crossover of pipelines from beneath the railway tracks, the company was unable to undertake expansion works in certain zones including Bhayandar (west).

According to a rough estimate, at present over 35,000 consumers including residential and commercial establishments are using PNG in the Mira Bhayandar region.
