Mumbai : Shubhangi Yevlekar, whose fireman husband died in the Lotus building blaze, will be given the job of a nurse at the nearest hospital, while an Andheri-based school, Prime Academy, will sponsor both his kids’ education.

The BMC will register a FIR against the owner or the society. “After we get the fire report, we will see if there were any illegal structural alterations which affected the rescue operations,’’ additional municipal commisioner Sanjay Deshmukh said.

“Prima facie, a short circuit in the server room caused the fire. Half the sprinklers in the building were not functional,” he added. Meanwhile, another round of investigation will start under Additional Municipal Commissioner Mohan Adtani. The fire brigade will also be submitting a report to the civic administration in the next two days.

Deshmukh also said that the number from where the hoax call had been made about a woman being stuck on the 13th floor has been identified and the person to whom it belongs will be questioned. The call had misled the firemen during the fire-fighting operation.
