As against the requirement of 170 MLD, the twin-city which sprawls across 79.4 sq km with a populace of more than 10 lakh, has a total supply of 136 MLD.

However, the total distribution losses are to the order of 10 per cent.

Although the MBMC plans to work on the secondary network to plug leakages, there is no concentrated effort to plug leakages in households where a huge quantity of clean water is wasted. It’s the same water for which crores of rupees are spent for purification.
