Mumbai : A ‘mobile application’ will now send a message to the family members when their relative/patient suffers from seizures, which will enable the relative to contact a hospital at the earliest for treatment. This app was launched on World Epileptic Day by Bombay Hospital in collaboration with Epilepsy Foundation with an aim to avoid delay in treatment and provide immediate help in the golden hour.
Epilepsy patients live in constant fear of seizures whether they are at home, office or outdoors. Experts explained that when seizures occur, patients do not understand what to do and where to go and therefore through this app, help will be provided to them as their relatives are intimated about their condition.
Dr Nirmal Surya, chairman of Epilepsy Foundation, said: “The patient and the relatives have to download this app from playstore wherein the patient has to fill in details about his disease. Following this, the relative will get information whenever their relative suffers from seizures through a Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS). The relative can contact the hospital and can intimate the hospital about it and also through the app; the patients can avail information about seizures and can set a reminder about the timings of their medicines so that they do not miss the doses.”
