Mumbai : The Nationalist Congress Party, a prominent alliance partner in the State government, has taunted Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan by saying that his working style is the most beneficial for the party. In a sarcastic manner, the party has also advised the Chief Minister to keep working in the same way.
“The Congress-NCP alliance has completed 14 years. In this time period, we have seen Chief Ministers like Vilasrao Deshmukh, Sushilkumar Shinde, Ashok Chavan and Prithviraj Chavan. But the current Chief Minister’s style of working has benefitted NCP the most,’’ party chief spokesperson, Nawab Mallick, said in an indirect dig at Chavan.
“We are happy that Chavan has completed three years. Now, he should match the speed at which the world is moving. He should now move in top gear,’’ the NCP leader advised the Chief Minister in an indirect reference to his slow pace of functioning.
Though Congress and NCP had announced to break the alliances with Shiv Sena and BJP, forged to form government in local bodies, Sharad Pawar’s party has announced to contest the recently announced local body elections on their own.
The State Election Commission has announced elections to Dhule, Nandurbar and Akola Zilla Parishads on December 1 and Dhule and Ahmednagar Municipal corporations on December 15.
With this, it is clear that both Congress and NCP will contest against each other in other Zilla Parishads.
