Mumbai : A former actress Navneet Kaur Rana, the Nationalist Congress Party candidate from Amravati has been facing immense pressure from rivals who have circulated Rana’s pictures and videos through cell phones. The NCP leadership has taken cognizance of this and said they will lodge a complaint against the culprits with the police and Election Commission.
Meanwhile, national spokesperson for NCP Nawab Malik, told media persons that the Shiv Sena MP Anandrao Adsul and his son Abhijit Adsul have been spreading allegations against Kaur. “The Adsuls have spread malicious allegations against Kaur regarding her false caste certificate. That is the reason why Adsuls have filed a false complaint under 156 (3) to defame our lady candidate,” said Malik.
As per 156 (3), any person can file a complaint against another person in any police station. If a hearing is not held under section, then the court can intervene and can direct inquiry in such matters. “There are thousands of such cases filed under this particular and it points to a conspiracy of only defaming an individual,” said Malik. “Navneet Kaur Rana is a Dalit lady and if anybody thinks a Dalit woman can’t be beautiful or a fine leader, then it is absolutely wrong,” said Malik.
The spokesperson also took potshots at Maharashtra’s opposition parties here, claiming that “infighting and chaos” prevailed in the ‘grand alliance’ of Shiv Sena, BJP and RPI (Athawale), which had come together purely for power, despite their differing ideologies. It’s time they all pulled up their, added Malik.
