Navi Mumbai: The Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) is setting up an international standard cricket academy in association with Dilip Vengsarkar Foundation.
A contract was signed between PMC and the foundation on Friday in the presence of veteran cricket Vengsarkar and municipal commissioner Ganesh Deshmukh.
According to senior civic officials, the civic body is expected to spend Rs 9 crore and every year, 101 budding talents, mostly students in the age group of 11 to 19 years will be trained.
The civic body is already developing a world-class cricket ground at sector 11 in New Panvel where the training will be given.
While talking to the media, all children will be given free coaching at the academy and produce world-level cricketers.
