In wake of the possible third wave of COVID-19, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has increased Covid19 testing. Except for Sundays, the civic body has been conducting around 8000 tests per day.

NMMC is taking a number of measures as part of the preparation for the possible third wave. Last week, one of the five oxygen generator plants started functioning at a civic hospital in Vashi. The remaining oxygen generators will start functioning by July end.

According to a senior civic official, the civic body has increased the number of testing to ensure that the maximum number of people are tested in time and isolated if they are found positive for COVID-19. “We are also stressing on contact tracing and at least 32 people are traced to the infected person”, said the official.
