Navi Mumbai food festival to increase awareness on unhealthy foods

Mumbai : With an objective of promoting healthy eating habits among citizens, Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) is all set to hold a food festival at CBD Belapur from February 11 to 14, 2016. The festival will feature and exhibit more than 100 foods, craft stands, live performances by musicians and dancers wherein the food festival will also showcase organic food and workshops.

Further, the festival will exhibit and conduct workshops to promote and teach some healthy cooking and eating habits among the residents of Navi Mumbai. The food festival is initiated by Navi Mumbai Mayor Sudhakar Sonvane who elaborating on the festival said, “With lifestyle disorders seeping deep in our society, the lifestyle has changed and has raised an alarming concern about obesity and diabetes among kids. This initiative invites vigilant citizens to think about the ill-effects of eating habit disorder and therefore take an initiative to save our children from various diseases.”

Nehal Thakkar, the official event partner for Navi Mumbai Food Festival (NMFF), said: “The NMMF 2016 is a platform to unite different cultures at the food festival and promote young entrepreneurs and home makers-bakers. Along with the initiative to encourage healthy eating habits, the NMFF 2016 initiates cultural ties.”

The food festival will also incorporate various performances including 3D street painting, rock band performance; celebrity chefs will conduct workshops, innovative mothers will be exhibiting secret health recipes and free health-check-ups will be held for kids at NMFF 2016.
