Television actor Karan Mehra, who shot to fame with the show 'Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai' was arrested late on Monday night after his wife, actress and model Nisha Rawal, approached police for being assaulted by her husband.
According to police, Mehra allegedly pushed Rawal against the wall following a heated domestic brawl in their Goregaon home. The actor was subsequently booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for assault. The actor was, however, granted bail on Tuesday morning.
The couple, who have a four year old son, were embroiled in a domestic dispute on Monday, following which Mehra allegedly pushed Rawal in a fit of rage, resulting in her getting hurt on the head. Despite several attempts made to contact Rawal, she was unavailable for a comment.
Soon after the incident, Rawal called the police control room at 100 and reported the matter, following which a team reached their house and arrested Mehra. Rawal then approached police and lodged a complaint against Mehra for assault. Sources claimed that this is the first time Rawal has filed a complaint against her actor-husband.
Mehra has been booked under section 336 (Act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 337 (Causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation), following which he was apprehended by Goregaon Police. He was then granted bail and released, said police.
