In a shocking incident, on Monday evening, a 28-year-old woman committed suicide by hanging herself after allegedly strangling her three-year-old son to death in Kurla.
According to Mumbai Mirror, Anuja Vanjari (28) allegedly hanged to death from a rod after strangling her son, Shree, with a dupatta. The motive behind the suicide is still ascertained. The incident came to light when Anuja’s mother-in-law, who works at Mumbai’s international airport, returned to their home in Guru Datt Society, Kurla, at 6 pm. After Anuja failed to open the door, Anuja’s mother-in-law alerted their neighbours who then peeped into the flat through the window and saw Anuja hanging. The neighbour saw her son whom, it seemed, was sleeping nearby.
Immediately, the mother-in-law informed Anuja’s husband, Deepak, who works with a private firm. In the meanwhile, their neighbours informed the police and the Fire Brigade, who later managed to break the door of the flat. After police arrived, they realised that Anuja had committed suicide by hanging, and suspected that she had strangled her son. According to cops, Anuja had an argument with her husband at a marriage function on Monday.
